The Bells of Hemscott is a pop-up glamping experience on our farm, operating for a few weeks only in the Summer Holidays with the meadow being returned to farmland at the end of the summer. We set up our Canvas Village on selected dates in July and August.
Our glamping offer includes 6 pre-erected tents, a shepherd’s hut and basic facilities for people who don’t have their own camping gear or don’t want the hassle and is located in a 20 acre meadow on the farm overlooking the ponds.
You can leave your car in the farm car park and walk the 5 minutes to the meadow, or you can drive along the farm track and park just outside the meadow gate. The Canvas Village is a ten minute flat stroll to the beach.
Our 6 tents are furnished with a double futon topped with a super comfy topper to keep you toasty that will be ready made with lovely fresh bedding and a warm duvet so you just need to turn up and move in.
In addition to the futon there will be a double and single chairbeds so that the tents also sleep up to 3 kids although you will need to bring bedding for them.
We have also found a fab solution to the ‘where do you hang your wet coat’ problem and found some clothes rails that are perfect for the job.
The tents are furnished with blankets, cushions and floor rugs, and have crate tables with lanterns. There are string lights and bunting to finish the look off, well it is glamping after all.
A kitchen box contains crockery, cutlery, mugs, glasses etc and this year we have a new kitchen shed that will be shared by the 6 tents where you can cook a meal on gas, make a quick cuppa, or store food in the cool boxes which will be topped up with ice packs daily.
Each tent has its own fire pit outside and a barbeque.
Max 2 adults and up to 3 children per tent. Tents booked for more than 2 adults will be charged at £10 per additional adult per night.
Facilities in the Canvas Village are simple with a kitchen shelter with gas stoves and a hot water washing up sink and a block of lovely loos that happen to be of the composting variety. We no longer have the gas showers and instead have installed ‘proper’ showers and flushing loos at the farm (a 5 minute walk from camp, next to Calico Barn). There is no electricity on site but there is a small phone charger in each tent that we will recharge for you.
