Volunteer with us as a Campsite Caretaker
This year we have decided to open up volunteering opportunities on the campsite in exchange for a free stay.
The way it works is that we invite you to stay with us free of charge in one of our unfurnished Bell Tents in the Canvas Village in exchange for helping us around the campsite for so many hours a day.
Campsite Caretaker weeks run from Thursday to Thursday and you will stay in one of our Bell Tents for a week and in exchange you work for 20 hours per person over 16 in your party. Families are welcome but we do ask that there is at least 2 adults of you are bringing young children so you can stagger working hours.
You will have access to all of the Canvas Village facilities and if it is early in the season may have the whole place to yourself during the week. You will also have access to the facilities including lounge, kitchen, showers in our newly developed bunkhouse.
Duties include cleaning tents, making beds, keeping loos mopped and stocked with loo roll, tidying kitchen, weeding, recycling, setting up equipment for guests, wood boxes, cleaning BBQs and kitchen boxes, helping clean in the bunkhouse, helping with the farm animals and alpacas (optional!) and other general duties. We also ask volunteers to take it in turns at being on-duty on an evening in case there are any problems on site.
We will be setting up a Volunteer Village of Bell Tents in the Canvas Village and if you have your own Bell Tent you are more than welcome to bring it.
Breakfast is provided each day in the Bunkhouse and we cook up a stew on a Wednesday night where we’d love you to join us for a glass of wine.
If you want to bring your own Bell Tent you are welcome to and pitch it in the Volunteer Village or you can bring any tents onto the Wild Camping area (but still have access to the same facilities).
We have the following tents available
- 2x 3m Bells available for solo carekaters
- 3 x 4m Bells available for couples / 2 friends
- 1 x 5m Bell Tent suitable for a family.
Volunteering opportunities run from Thursday 14 July to Thursday 15 September 2016 for a minimum of 1 week (no maximum).
If you are interested in being a Campsite Caretaker please contact us for an application form. Please remember this is a volunteer opportunity and is not paid work. You will get a tent, daily breakfast and weekly dinner night included in return for 20 hours of your time.
