The Bells of Hemscott is a pop-up glamping experience on our farm, operating for a few weeks only in the Summer Holidays with the meadow being returned to farmland at the end of the summer. We set up our Canvas Village on selected dates in July and August.
We do changeovers on Fridays, Mondays and Wednesdays. Weekend bookings starting on a Friday are subject to a 3 night minimum stay and mid week stays are 2 night minimum. We don’t do 2 night stays on a weekend and if you are only wanting 2 nights we still require a 3 night booking, this does mean that you can use the facilities all day on Sunday without rushing to pack up.
Our glamping offer includes pre-erected tents, a shepherd’s hut and basic facilities for people who don’t have their own camping gear or don’t want the hassle and is located in a 2o acre meadow on the farm overlooking the ponds.
You can leave your car in the farm car park and walk the 5 minutes to the meadow, or you can drive along the farm track and park just outside the meadow gate. The Canvas Village is a ten minute flat stroll to the beach.
We call them Bells & Whistles as they include everything you need to make the most out of your stay. The Bells & Whistles include a double height queen size airbed, a double futon and a single chairbed suitable for a child. We provide 2 double duvets and 4 pillows in each tent as well as cushions and throws. We do ask you to bring your own duvet cover and pillowcases though although linen can be hired from us if required.
They have tables and jam jar tealight lanterns and a kitchen box with plates, mugs, bowls, cutlery, utensils and a pan set.
Outside there is a small decking area and an outdoor cooking set of cooking pot, kettle and grill as well as a firepit at each tent. Each tent has a camping table and 4 stools and 2 camping chairs (please bring extras if you need them).
Max 2 adults and up to 3 children per tent. Tents booked for more than 2 adults will be charged at £10 per additional adult per night.
The Shepherd’s Hut has a double fold down bed that converts to a sofa through the day, and the same bedding and kit outside as the Bells & Whistles. The Shepherd’s Hut is suitable for adults only and sleeps 2. You can read about the Hut here and here.
Facilities in the Canvas Village are simple with a kitchen shelter with gas stoves and a washing up sink and a block of lovely loos that happen to be of the composting variety. We no longer have the gas showers and instead have installed ‘proper’ showers at the farm (a 5 minute walk from camp, next to Calico Barn). There is no electricity on site but there is a small phone charger in each tent that we will recharge for you.
If glamping isn’t for you or for those made of hardier stuff and have your own camping gear, check out our ‘Wildish Camping Page‘
